Meet Wilmington Eye Doctor Dr. Gail Kelley

Wilmington, NC eye doctor Dr. Gail Kelley

Gail Kelley, O.D., is an optometrist with over 10 years of experience diagnosing, treating and managing diseases and problems with the visual system.

Dr. Kelley grew up on a grain farm in Sidney, Ohio. She fell in love with optometry during a summer job as a lab technician, when she learned how diabetic management can be enhanced by understanding and evaluating the health of the eye’s retina.

Dr. Kelley earned her bachelor’s degree in vision science and her optometry degree from The Ohio State University. An externship through the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury first brought her to North Carolina, and she established her practice in the Wilmington area in 2009.

She is particularly interested in contact lens care and providing care for patients with dry eye, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Passionate about finding ways to optimize patients’ visual function, Dr. Kelley is an exceptional listener and enjoys seeing her patients thrive under her care.

Dr. Kelley belongs to the North Carolina Optometric Society, the American Optometric Association and the Southeastern District Optometric Society. She is an active member of the North Carolina chapter of Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), which is dedicated to providing eye and vision care services to communities lacking access to quality care.

Dr. Kelley lives with her husband, Heath, and her beloved rat terrier, Grace. In her free time, she enjoys reading, Orange Theory Fitness, stand-up paddle boarding and the great culinary scene in Wilmington. Dr. Kelley is involved in the Port City Community Church.
