Please Welcome Dr. Gail Kelley
Intracoastal Eye is delighted to announce that our team has grown with the arrival of our new optometrist! We recently welcomed Gail Kelley, O.D., to the practice, and she has already proved to be a valuable addition. She sees patients at our Wilmington office, located at the Offices at Mayfaire IV.
Background and Experience
Dr. Kelley is originally from Sidney, Ohio. She was introduced to optometry through a summer job as a lab technician, and it set the course for her career. Of the many things that job taught her, discovering the relationship between diabetes and retinal health was particularly fascinating to Dr. Kelley.
Set on learning more about enhancing peoples’ lives through vision care, Dr. Kelley earned her undergraduate degree in vision science and optometry degree from The Ohio State University. She completed an externship through the W.G. Hefner VA Medical Center in Salisbury. After the program, Dr. Kelley established her optometry practice in the Wilmington area in 2009.
Particular Areas of Interest
Dr. Kelley is a well-rounded, knowledgeable optometrist with a decade of experience in practice. She provides the highest quality care to her valued patients and her goal is to find ways to optimize visual function through innovative treatment techniques. Dr. Kelley enjoys the variety of cases she sees and the opportunity to work with patients of all ages and backgrounds.
Dr. Kelley’s particular areas of interest include care for dry eye, glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. She is also very experienced in contact lens care; new advancements in the contact lens industry are instrumental to what she recommends to her patients.
Giving back to the community is also a core part of Dr. Kelley’s practice. She takes annual trips to Grenada to assist with eye care through a partnership with the local Rotary club.
Outside the Office
Dr. Kelley is married to Heath and has a beloved rat terrier named Grace. In her free time, she enjoys reading, staying active with Orangetheory Fitness and stand-up paddle boarding, and taking advantage of the incredible culinary scene in Wilmington. Dr. Kelley is an active member of Port City Community Church.
